Courtney Walker, M.S. OTR/L
Courtney grew up outside of Washington, D.C. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Virginia, where she completed a year-long internship at a boarding school for children with learning, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Throughout college, she spent summers working as a camp counselor for children with special needs, and knew early on she was meant for a career in pediatrics.
Upon graduation, she spent a year working in the public school system special education department as a teaching assistant. She went on to work at a specialty center for children with autism, where she practiced Applied Behavior Analysis therapy in the school setting. In this position, she supported students in reaching their educational, social, fine motor, and functional living goals in collaboration with families, teachers, occupational therapists, and speech and language pathologists.
Courtney earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She graduated with honors and has maintained membership in PTE, the national occupational therapy honor society. During her graduate studies, Courtney completed clinical rotations in a pediatric sensory integration clinic, an acute neurological hospital unit, and adult physical rehabilitation. She worked in an outpatient hand therapy clinic before making the recent cross-country move to Colorado with her husband for his residency in pediatric dentistry. In their free time, they are excited to explore Colorado with their dog, and hike up and ski down as many mountains as they can!
