Many children are challenged by the expectations of their everyday routines due to delays in motor development, difficulty with planning, or due to underlying deficits in their ability to process sensory information.

Occupational therapy focuses on increasing individual skills or sets of skills that are necessary to engage in specific meaningful activities.  Our occupational therapists will focus on increasing your child’s independence with everyday activities such as getting ready to start their day (dressing, shoe tying, personal hygiene), meal time (tolerance of foods, use of utensils), and transitions (going to school, tolerating unexpected changes in plans, managing conflict, learning to be flexible, problem solving), etc.

Your child’s occupational therapy program may include support for fine motor skills, motor planning, sequencing skills, visual-motor integration, attention, and self-regulation to support improved independence with specific self-care skills.
